    Pay: $80-90 per hour

    Duration: 3+month

    Location: Remote (with some possible travel)

    A large public accounting firm is seeking a University Ethics & Compliance consultant for a 3+month project where majority of work can be done remotely. Firm is looking for a resource who can provide expertise to a large university client on the east coast.

    Scope of Engagement:

    Phase 1

    Conducting an assessment of university Ethics & Compliance professionals

    • Performing targeted research (to further define the list of skills, capabilities, and expectations associated with that of effective ethics and compliance officers)
    • Conducting analysis (i.e., develop an assessment of current state)

    Phase 2

    • Deliver observations and recommendations regarding the current state of backgrounds, skills, and capabilities of university’s professionals – and recommendations regarding potential areas for enhancement and suggestions for an enhanced future state (format for deliverable to be determined by client)
    • Developing an assessment of university’s E&C program and benchmarking against other universities (BIG 10 types) to see how they compare

    Phase 3

    • Developing and conduct ethics and compliance awareness workshops
    • Designing eight interactive workshops (with each session running approximately 2.5 hours).
    • Delivering ethics and compliance awareness workshops

    Example areas:

    General Ethics

    preserving ethical behavior and avoidance of conflicts of interest in areas such as outside employment, financial conflicts of interests, royalties, compliance with state and federal laws and university policy.

     

    Athletics Compliance

    provides guidance and recommendations on process and policies and procedures regarding student-athlete and staff complaints; and ensuring compliance with the NCAA requirements.

     

    Protection of Minors

    provide guidelines for appropriate protection and supervision of minors participating in University-sponsored programs, or in programs operated by outside entities that are held in university facilities.

     

    Research Compliance

    Ensure protections of the rights and welfare of human and animal subjects involved in research are upheld and in compliance with all applicable laws.

     

    Student Privacy

    Ensure compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). FERPA is the federal law that governs the rights of students and institutional responsibilities with respect to student records.

     

    Title IX

    Ensuring a safe learning, living, and working environment, free from discrimination and violence by compliance with Title IX of the 1972 federal education law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and gender in any federally funded education.
