  • Job Description:

    Our client is a Fortune 500 leader and top place to work for in Downtown Chicago. They are currently in need of an experienced Software Developer to be embedded within their QA group. This SDET will be tasked with developing comprehensive test-automation solutions to validate frontend web UI and backend APIs.


    The Software Development Engineer in Test will be proficient in Java, with a good understanding of object-oriented programming. The SDET will also have a knack for writing clean, readable, and maintainable code.


    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Java and/or Groovy to develop, enhance, and maintain code that is designed to verify the quality of our client's software across all layers (Unit, Service, and UI).

    • Help identify gaps in test coverage and develop quality test code to fill gaps.

    • Participate in code reviews to ensure that OO design best-practices are followed.

    • Work with Product, QA, and Development right from inception through validation and launch.

    • Issue triaging and root cause analysis.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 4-5 years of professional Java development experience.

    • Proven skills in Junit/TestNG for testing.

    • Good understanding of Agile Development (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, etc)

    • Data-driven, with strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities to be able to support theories/solutions using underlying data.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Inherent curiosity to break code and stress test it!

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Experience with Selenium WebDriver and/or Appium.

    • CI/CD automation pipelines using Jenkins, and Docker experience

    • Familiarity with Linux or UNIX OS.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 4+ years of Java development experience.
