    Pay: $37-$47 per hour

    5 Month Contract (Potential for Contract to Hire)

    A $2B publicly traded company located near Joliet, IL is looking for a Sr Cost Accountant to join their growing team. Candidates must have 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, experience working within a manufacturing environment, inventory experience, working SAP knowledge and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

    The responsibilities for this role are as follows:

    Inventory

    • Cost & Controls - Perform monthly cycle counts in accordance with the cycle count policy, investigate variances, and post adjustments as necessary

    • Review manufacturing variances for potential standard cost updates

    • Ensure and verify that the site has effective controls over inventory movements and reporting

    • Ensure processes are effectively in place to close out production orders accurately and timely

    • Perform bill of material and overhead standard cost reviews on a monthly basis to ensure product standard costs are accurate

    • Analyze plant absorption on a monthly basis; Investigate variances and recommend Labor and Overhead rate updates as necessary

    • During the budget process, prepare indirect cost center allocation %s and Labor & Overhead Rates

    Accounting and Related Controls

    • Perform monthly accounting close procedures and prepare journal entries (accruals and account reclassifications)

    • Review and analyze monthly expenses to ensure alignment with expectations

    • Work with areas to explain significant deviations versus forecast or budget

    • Prepare required monthly plant & corporate reports

    Financial Analysis

    • Educate and train site management on their expenses and variances

    • Assist with analytical review for forecast and budget

    • Work to provide data in a meaningful format to drive the plant’s success

    Creation / Improve Processes

    • Be an active leader in looking for ways to bring value through continual improvement to the organization as it pertains to costs associated with the manufacturing site

    • Work as a site change agent to streamline and improve processes in cooperation with plant staff

    • Includes a review of how things are done and a brainstorm of what can be changed in order to add value, streamline tasks, improve financial accuracy, and drive out costs.
