    Assembly Technician

    Duration: 6 months contract (potential extension / conversion likely)

    Rate: $17.50 w2 hourly (1.5X for overtime)

    Location: Austin, TX (onsite)

    Shift: Full Time (Alternating Weeks 1 & 2) // Week 1: M-F, 7:00 am-4:30 pm // Week 2: M-TH, 7:00 am-4:30 pm Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

     

    A growing, dynamic, high-tech organization in Dripping Springs/Austin area is looking for Assembly Technicians. Assembly Technicians are responsible assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, reworking and the modification of developmental and production components, parts, equipment, and systems such as wiring, cables, harnesses, PCBs, CCAs, RFIUs, rack enclosures, chassis, panels, electro-mechanical assemblies and other hardware for prototype, build-to-print and custom test systems under the direction of the production manager, production flow control and/or engineering.  Also utilizing technical manuals and using a rudimentary knowledge of electronics systems/components and electromagnetic circuit theory, the technician assembles a finished, professional project subassembly or system for our customers, whether a build-to-print or a prototype/custom internal design. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Training will be provided) 

    • Studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, schematics, diagrams, drawings, parts lists and taking verbal instruction for building, converting, and modifying all types of electronic and mechanical assemblies. 

    • Documenting actions and providing Engineering feedback on incorrect documentation.

    • Test electronic components for electronic continuity.

    • Gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.  

    • Must have a broad knowledge of various electronic components and industry connection types available.  

    • Assembling components and examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.

    • Provide required production and quality records as necessary.

    • Laying out, building, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, reworking and the modification of developmental and production components, parts, equipment, and systems such as wiring, cables, harnesses, PCBs, CCAs, RFIUs, rack enclosures, chassis, panels, electro-mechanical assemblies and other hardware.

    • Assembly technicians with the responsibility of PCB/CCA population and rework should also be proficient/familiar with IPC 7711B/7721. These technicians are responsible for population of bare circuit boards, difficult micro soldering, and circuit card assembly rework.

    • Electronic assembly per IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 standards.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Prototype skills in working from schematics.

    • Capable of working in fast paced environment.

    • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

    • Extreme attention to detail.

    • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and change focus rapidly.

    • Must be able to work over-time when required and ten hour shifts every other week, alternating with a straight 8 hours the opposite week.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR).

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a workbench.

    • Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
