  • Job Description

    Buyer / Purchasing Agent 

    Duration: 6 months contract (potential extension / conversion likely)

    Rate: $25 w2 hourly (1.5X for overtime)

    Location: Austin, TX (onsite)

    Description:

    Buyer I processes Bills of Materials (BOM) into purchase orders. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and tracking orders, ensuring on-time delivery of orders, interfacing with vendors, quoting, and working with management/engineering/Program Management to ensure project parts requirements and production needs are met.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    • Research, evaluate, and determine the best deals for buying parts from given parts lists.

    • Create, ensure accuracy, and place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.

    • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential problems.

    • Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.

    • Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development.

    • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.

    • Collaborate with Engineering and Program Manager Departments and provide a high level of customer service.

    • Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures.

    • Maintain approved supplier/vendor lists; evaluate suppliers/vendors based on metrics.

    • Assist with quoting new projects.

    Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred but not required.

    • Experience in procurement preferred but not required.

    • Strong negotiating skills.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
