    A leading national CPA and consulting firm is seeking an Internal Audit Consultant to join their Risk & Advisory practice, supporting a public sector client in the Health and Human Services space. This is a five-month contract role where you’ll work directly with a newly promoted manager and a highly respected advisory team to bring structure, clarity, and process improvement to a complex financial environment.

    This is an ideal role for someone with internal audit experience who is feeling underutilized or overlooked in their current firm. If you’re ready for more autonomy, more visibility, and a direct path to advancement, this is a standout opportunity to prove yourself and build momentum.

    What You’ll Own and Accomplish in the First 90 Days

    • Document key financial processes from the ground up, including clear flowcharts and detailed narratives
    • Engage with client stakeholders to understand current workflows, then translate that into audit-ready deliverables
    • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies, offering smart recommendations rather than simply recording what exists
    • Communicate findings professionally, using strong business acumen to deliver both good and bad news when needed
    • Serve as a thought partner to the internal team, offering insights and driving outcomes—not just checking boxes

    What They’re Looking For

    • 2 to 4 years of internal audit experience, ideally from a CPA or advisory firm
    • Someone who can work independently, documenting processes from scratch without relying on templates
    • Professional presence with strong client-facing communication skills
    • Local to the Greater Memphis area or able to be onsite several days a week
    • Exposure to healthcare, government, or grant-funded organizations is helpful, but not required
