Accountant / Onsite

1. General Accounting & Financial Oversight

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in all entries and classifications.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB).
Support the annual audit by preparing schedules and collaborating with external auditors.

Grants & Restricted Fund Accounting

Track and report on government and private grants, ensuring funds are used in compliance with donor restrictions and grant agreements.
Prepare monthly grant reimbursement requests and maintain documentation for federal, state, and local grants (e.g., DCFS, CPS, city/state agencies).

Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist with annual budget development in collaboration with program managers and leadership.
Monitor actuals vs. budget, flag variances for review, and support financial forecasting.

Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., IRS, OMB Uniform Guidance).
Maintain strong internal controls and support periodic reviews and risk assessments.

Accounts Payable, Receivable and Support Payroll & Benefits Accounting

Oversee processing of accounts payable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Reconcile and track accounts receivable, including pledges, contributions, and earned revenue.
Coordinate with HR and third-party providers to ensure payroll accuracy and proper allocation of salaries and benefits across funding sources.
